This is funny. In the late 70's (when I was barely 18)I would go to CBGB, but refused too pay (what I think was about $4.50 a pack for cigs in the machine and would walk down the Bowery to the nearest bodega to get a deal. My friends thought I was nuts, but I very much enjoyed the walk and the people that were part of the city at that time,
BUT! on my walk home I always had to pass the Hells Angels Headquarters. I made it a point cross the street for at 4:30 in the morning, and walking alone, they were a intimidating bunch.Probably the documentary Gimme Shelter planted a seed very early on.
Anyhow, now in my very late 40's,and not walking past the headquarters for years,in Sept I walked by with my 2 young daughters ages 6 and 10, at a distance I still had an uncontrollable desire to cross the street ,but they wanted to see the bikes, well not only were they (the angels) a kind and gentle bunch to my kids but they had them pose on their hogs for pictures. So maybe they are feminizing a bit!
I doubt very seriously that they are feminizing . Things are quieter on 3rd street today but that fact can be very misleading .
Respect gets respect.
Bob, your right, feminizing was the wrong word to use.
A seemingly kinder and gentler group seems more appropriate.
They need to get the prospects out there to keep the citizens off.
We got Pagans around here where I live. Now while I certainly wouldn't want to piss off one of the Angels, if the door to the bar opens and Pagans walk in, I leave. Sooner or later there will be trouble wherever there are Pagans. Hells Angels closed their Philly chapter, only place they've ever left.
by the way, what's with the Thor-Grim business? Biker Bill should stay Biker Bill
Well , Tom the man has changed his name . Its a cultural / religous thing .I agree with you ,Biker Bill should stay Bill Bill but ....
As to the Angels and the Post story ,I suspect that they are going to let the Post story , stupid and disrespectful as it was ,ride .They likely have more important things to deal with .
